Family in Play app for iPhone and iPad

Family in Play is a bilingual (Spanish and English) app designed to facilitate parent-child play in the home for children with special needs and their families. We believe that caregivers know their child’s needs in ways that no one else will. By using Family in Play, caregivers can help optimize the performance of their child and help their child succeed in the world that they live, learn, and play in.

In Family in Play, you will find videos of how the caregiver can facilitate parent-child play. Within each video, you will learn about some of the skills that are addressed when engaging in that type of play and supplies needed to complete the play. Play recommendations have been broken down into areas of the home as a way to address specific skills. Additionally, Family in Play has provided users with what occupational therapy is, services a child may qualify for, and words of encouragement from caregiver to caregiver.

Since this app was developed through the lens of an occupational therapist, therapy practitioners may also find it useful to look through the content available in Family in Play to build onto caregiver education, create a home exercise program, or even ideas for treatment planning.
